Rural communities in Pakistan — especially in remote areas like District Thatta — often lack access to services, representation, and structured development.
CHRS partnered with Church World Service (CWS) to support community-led development through Village Development Plans (VDPs) that ensure local priorities shape future interventions.
Work included:
- Household assessments & socio-economic surveys
- Community meetings & stakeholder engagement
- Identifying infrastructure, education & livelihood gaps
- Designing formal development plans for approval
The approach empowered community members to identify their own needs, articulate demands to the government, and establish a future vision. This participatory planning experience also built local capacity for long-term governance, transparency, and ownership of development efforts.
It shifted communities from being passive recipients to active decision-makers in their growth journey.
