SHAFIQUE CHAUDHRY

Mr. Shafique Chaudhry is an experienced PUBLIC POLICY & HUMAN RIGHTS EXPERT working at the intersection of human rights, democracy, access to justice and rule of law. He has successfully spearheaded the advocacy campaign in Pakistan to establish National Commission for Human Rights Previously, he served as Adviser in Federal Government with Ministry of Law and Justice and Ministry of Human Rights, Member of National commission on Human rights NCHR and Adviser to various parliamentary committees and National Parliamentary task force Task force on SDG’s. He played key instrumental role in convincing Federal government in ratification of Two important Human rights treaties :International Covenant on Civil and political Rights (ICCPR) and UN Convention against Torture (UNCAT) in 2010 and subsequently lead the process of preparation and submission of Initial state reports on implementation of the same .

Presently he is working as Executive Director, Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR)an informal parliamentary caucus working for protection and promotion of human rights, and is actively contributing in various national level efforts for strengthening rule of law , realization of human rights and reforming Justice sector .In this context ,he is leading a Police reforms implementation project in partnership with National police bureau, ministry of interior , Provincial police organisations and various ministries of Federal and provincial governments.

AMNA FARHAN KAYANI

ADVISOR - GENDER

Ms. Amna Kayani is an IR Masters having over 8 years of experience in leading and implementing policy advocacy, capacity building, and awareness-raising programs with a particular focus on police reforms, women's rights, minority rights, freedom of expression, civil liberties, and rule of law. She is working at United States Institute of Peace USIP (an American federal institution tasked with promoting conflict resolution and prevention worldwide. It provides research, analysis, and training to individuals in diplomacy, mediation, and other peace-building measures). She as Program Analyst aims to enhance police-community relations by assisting in building the capacity of police departments for communications, community engagement, research initiatives and simultaneously generating public demand around the need for police reform. Previously, she worked with the National Commission for Human Rights (a Statutory body) as well as the Parliamentarians’ Commission for Human Rights (informal Parliamentary Caucus) as their National Program Manager. Where she was managing the Human Rights portfolio with projects aimed at supporting gender inclusion in Pakistan Police, implementing Justice system reforms, and evaluating progress towards achieving SDGs.
